One of ASHRM’s new board members, Lisa Ramthun, RN, MSN, CPHRM, FASHRM, is the vice president of Risk Management for the St. Joseph Health System based in Irvine, California. Her responsibilities include oversight for the system in risk management, patient safety, infection prevention and the central office of research administration functions.
Ramthun has 26 years of healthcare experience, most of which have been dedicated to safety and risk management. She began her career as an emergency room nurse in a busy level II trauma center and then transitioned into the pre-hospital care environment, where she ran critical care nurse transport programs and clinical services as well as safety and risk management for the southeastern and southwestern regions of American Medical Response.
Ramthun holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in administration. She is recognized by the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management as a Fellow and as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management. She is an expert on Collaborative Just Culture and is a frequent speaker on risk management topics.
An active member of ASHRM and her local chapter of the Southern California Association for Healthcare Risk Management, she has served in volunteer and elected positions including chapter president.
Ramthun is married with a daughter. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and travelling.
